Small Courtyard - Southville
The brief here was to get rid of an uninspiring concrete space with an uneven surface and limited planting. We transformed the look and feel by creating as much opportunity for planting as possible and resurfacing with a stylish dark slate. The hard landscaping made the carefully selected planting really stand out giving the space a modern and relaxed feel. The planting has established to beautifully fill the beds, attracting pollinators and creating screening through the use of climbers and added trellis.
Cottage Garden - Cliftonwood
The brief for this garden was to create a welcoming, low-maintenance space with a cottage feel, featuring billowy perennials, evergreens for structure, and a rich, seasonal planting palette. The main view from the living room was key, with comfortable seating for four and space for more informally. Raised beds replaced the lawn for easier upkeep, incorporating herbs like sage and rosemary.
Wildlife Garden - Bishopston
The client wanted to create a wildlife haven with diverse habitats while ensuring a comfortable and inviting space to enjoy. A winding path from the steps leads through the garden to a sunny, more exposed seating area at the rear. Climbing plants feature, with a pergola providing shade, structure, and perches for wildlife, enhancing both biodiversity and the garden’s atmosphere. A small pond is placed visible from the kitchen creating a beautiful view and attractive to wildlife.
Larch veranda - Stoke Park
This garden redesign focused on enhancing the connection between the house and outdoor space by thoughtfully addressing changes in level. We opened up the back of the house to create a smooth transition to the garden, introducing generous seating areas that offer both comfort and practicality. The new design improves the flow between levels, making movement through the space effortless and safe. Planting was brought up to the house to soften the architecture and create a more inviting atmosphere. The overall look has been refreshed, blending contemporary style with natural elements to create a beautiful, functional garden for everyday enjoyment.
Pond Garden - Stoke Gifford
The brief was to transform the small garden into a serene wildlife haven, where the client could sit and watch nature unfold. The design offered a sense of privacy, especially at the back, creating a peaceful retreat that felt shielded from being overlooked throughout the day. A pond was included as a focal point, drawing in wildlife and enhancing the garden's tranquil charm. The space became intimate and immersive, providing the perfect spot to relax and connect with nature.
Wooden Decking - Ashley Down
The client was looking for a way to increase the existing planting and create a garden that met the needs of the whole family. With a combination of treated softwood decking and sleeper raised beds for planting, we were able to create just that. On a practical level, the use of raised beds to bring planting up to waist height creates a natural barrier to the decking edge. In design terms, it gives the sense of being surrounded by nature in an otherwise urban environment.
Large Terraced Garden - Westbury on Trym
The brief was to transform a large, sloping garden into a functional, inviting space. Terracing was needed to create comfortable levels for use, including a generous, welcoming patio for seating, dining, and entertaining. A cosy seating area with a wooden pergola was added for intimate gatherings.
